About  Me

My First Cache

I don't plan on commiting a page for every individual cache but my first is certainly deserving.  This cache was hidden just south of Colorado Springs in Aichen Canyon.  I had never been there but decided to check it out as my first cache because it was so close.

Park Rules

The park was a rather nice nature preserve.  According to the sign your activities were limited to walking and breathing.  I took this picture to prove I couldn't take the dog.  I took my daughter, Caitlyn, though.

Caitlyn is a lousy hiker!

I love my kid but she is not a good hiker.  I had to learn this on my first Geocache.  The fact that she endlessly stopped to stare at nothing wasn't the problem.  For some reason she thought that Hiking is riding on Daddy's shoulders

Great Sites

This is just one of the sites along the way.

The Location

After a brutally slow 1.5 mile hike (the terrain was easy but the kid was usually standing still) my GPS took me straight to this boulder.

Hiding Spot

Once I knew the boulder had something to do with
the hiding spot, I walked around it until I spotted the
ammo can set in a hole in the rock.

Caitlyn with the Cache

Caitlyn really enjoyed the cache.  She seemed a little confused
about finding toys in the middle nowhere.  She liked
the plastic bracelet so we traded a couple of unit patches for it.
